Assam Floods: 2 Additional Fatalities in the State, Bringing the Total to 14

Guwahati: With two more fatalities in the past 24 hours, Assam’s flood-related death toll now stands at 14. One men and one lady from the Sonitpur district died in the last 24 hours. The Brahmaputra River is running above the danger threshold at Nemati Ghat in the districts of Jorhat and Dhubri, and the Beki River is doing the same in Nangalamuraghat, Dibrugarh, according to the Central Water Commission (CWC). In the Barpeta district, there are damaged road bridges, while the Golakganj, Dhubri district has embankment breaches. Although it is stable at Dibrugarh, the Brahmaputra is rising from Nemati Ghat to Dhubri

According to the flood report from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), flooding has impacted 22 revenue circles in eight districts. Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Kokrajhar, Sivasagar, and Sonitpur are the eight districts in question. 65,652 people, spread across 313 communities, are affected. In the Sivasagar district, there are seven relief camps with 1,329 residents.
